Sunday May 31- Local and Vocal


This Sunday, Scott Davis from the GLLO team will be joining Jenny for fun, frivolity and independent music on Local and Vocal again.

In the first hour there will be a live set and interview with Joe Neptune, their debut album No Time To Grow Up is out now, and in the second hour Charles Jenkins will be talking about the Blue Atlas Ball.

There will be BAM, the gig guide, and lots of great tunes.

The Conch with Paul Anthony and at 1:10pm Connor Dowling a dancer in the show 360ยบ currently on tour through the Sydney Dance Company will have a chat about what to expect. Then a bit later at 2:10pm Paul Anthony will be joined in studio by Noel Anderson who is the director and a cast member, Simon Doyle from the Boroondara Theatre Company's production, Blowing Whistles.

To complete the theatre focused trio after 3pm, Colin MacPherson who plays Charlie Fox and Kasia Kaczmarek who plays Karen in the Chapel Off Chapel production, Speed-the-Plow will be in to talk about the show.

John from Wednesday Training Wheels (1pm) will be joined in the studio by Melbourne band True Live who will talk about their sophomore album and will even perform a track live.

This afternoon on JOY keep an ear out for Chris who will be interviewing Dale Baker, who is the Senior Ballet Master, for The Dancers Company at the Australian Ballet School to talk about the Morning Melodies concert series at the Arts Centre this month.

A bit later on and Chris will be joined in the studio by Sebastian Anzaldo and Sharon Owens who are playing the roles of Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand in The Concert That Never Was a performance that imagines what might have happened should they have teamed up for a tour.

Their show is about three tourists journey to a fantasy island expecting an exotic, blissful and dreamlike holiday of cocktails, coconuts and dancing girls.


Afternoons on JOY 12:20pm Wes Carr will call in to talk to Chris about his upcoming tour and his career to date and then a bit later on Chris will talk to Phil Roberts actor/ director of Constance Yorkshire a production by Eagle's Nest Theatre.

An Awkward Pause, with Cade (11:00pm) features an interview with Hutch, vocals/guitarist of american indie rock band The Thermals.

The crew from Detours (12pm) will be joined by the Minister for Tourism, Tim Holding to talk about the exciting and glamourous world of tourism from a politician's point of view.

Meanwhile later in tonight tune in to hear Andy Bell with the wonderfully bizarre and completely awesome The Full Catastrophe (10pm) . This week the theme is "The Full - Not Eurovision Song Contest - Catastrophe." It promises to feature all the good stuff we could get from Europe including Gaelic punk, Norwegian hip hop and Estonian reggae.

May 5- Eagle's Nest Theatre


This afternoon on JOY at 3:20pm Michael will have director, Peita Collard on the phone to talk about Eagle's Nest Theatre's latest production, William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in a vibrant new interpretation based on the riots in the summer of 1964 when rival Mods and Rockers battled it out on England’s Brighton Beach.

The show starts a two week run next week at the Northcote Town Hall.
